Haloperidol is an anti-psychotic agent and anti-dopamine effective ingredient of the group of neuroleptics and butyrophenones, and is administered for the treatment of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, mania, acute- and chronic psychosis bus also against mobility hindrances, chronic pain and nausea. The effects are based on the inhibition of the dopamine receptors (primarily Subtype D2) in the central nervous system. This means, that haloperidol has attentuation effects as well as being weakly antihistaminic and anticholinergic. . Frequent side effects are mobility disruptions, lassitude, blood pressure problems and psychotic complaints.
