Clinical information
Mefenamic acid has analgesic, temperature-reducing- and anti-inflammatory effects and belongs to the groupt of the ‘NSAR’ (Non-steroid anti-rheumatic agents). The beneficial effect is based on the non-selective inhibition of der cyclooxygenase. This leads to an inhibiting of the prostaglandin synthesis, which invokes the desired effect. Mefenamic acid can be administered for acute and chronic pain, for rheumatic complaints, muscle pain, menstruation discomfort, swellings or as an anti-inflammatory agent.
