Serum, free of hemolysis, 120min after glucose administration, 1ml - Fluoride blood or serum. Before centrifugation, wait at least 15min and no longer than 30min.
Clinical Information
Principle: The metabolism is determined by measuring the blood glucose on an empty stomach and after oral glucose intake:
- First blood sample taken after fasting: Determination of glucose level
- Add 75g glucose (grape sugar) to 500ml of water
- Blood sample taken 120min after intake of glucose: determination of glucose level
Label tubes with "fasting" and the time the sample was taken.
Contraindication: known diabetes mellitus
